Morocco became the third country from which Russia started buying gasoline after Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries reduced the country’s fuel production to the lowest level in two decades.
According to Reuters sources, gasoline production in July amounted to only 65% of the total amount needed for domestic consumption, and the total fuel shortage reached 700–800 thousand tons.
Gasoline from India has already arrived
At the end of July, the first tanker with gasoline from India arrived at the Vitino port in the Murmansk region. 42,000 tons were purchased from the Vadinar oil refinery. Another tanker, “Varg,” carrying gasoline for Russia is sailing towards the Suez Canal, where the fuel will be transshipped to another ship that will deliver it to one of Russia’s ports.
In total, India agreed to supply Russia with two gasoline shipments – about 100,000 tons. Both shipments are from “Nayara Energy,” 49% of whose shares belong to “Rosneft.” In mid-July, Russian oil refiners appealed to Indian oil refineries to increase supplies, but Indian state oil companies refused.
Kazakhstan will also help
About 10,000 tons of gasoline were sent to Russia from the Kazakh refinery “Kondensat.” According to Reuters, Kazakhstan agreed to sell a total of 50,000 tons on a “humanitarian aid basis.”
