5 Lithuanian crews continue the fight for medals at the European Rowing Championships

On the first day of the competition, with temperatures soaring above 30 degrees, the qualifying heats took place. After them, it became clear that 4 Lithuanian crews made it to the A finals and one each to the semifinals and the C final.

This year’s World Cup stage silver medalist Viktorija Senkutė took second place in the third qualifying heat of the women’s single sculls (W1x) (7:26.45 min.) and advanced directly to the semifinals. The other single sculler, Dovydas Nemeravičius, did not have as good a qualifying race – the most decorated member of the men’s team (M1x) finished sixth in the second qualifying heat (6:58.86 min.) and will start in the C final tomorrow.

Returning to international competition for the first time since the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Dovilė Rimkutė, together with two-time beach sprint world champion Martyna Kazlauskaitė, had an excellent start on Lake Varese – their women’s double sculls (W2x) duo was second in the first qualifying heat (6:49.43 min.) and advanced directly to the A final.

All three single crews are also competing for medals. Ugnė Juzėnaitė and Kamilė Kralikaitė (W2-) were third in the first qualifying heat (7:09.07 min.) and thanks to their time advanced to the A final, while Domantas Stankūnas and Dovydas Stankūnas (M2-; 6:25.16 min.) and Mantas Juškevičius, Povilas Stankūnas, Arnedas Kelmelis, and Saulius Aušbikavičius (M4-; 5:52.10 min.) were second in their qualifying heats and advanced directly to the A finals.

All our crews will start on Saturday. Dovydas will row in the C final from 10:05, Viktorija in the semifinal from 11:05, and the A finals will begin at 11:49 Lithuanian time.
