“From Monday, a third (waste – BNS) handler will already be involved. (…) All operational daily flow will pass into the hands of three handlers,” M. Švaikauskas told “Verslo žinios.”

He previously stated that “Ekobazė” will start handling waste at the end of this week.
As BNS wrote, VAATC has already agreed with the companies “Ecoservice” and “Ekonovus” on sorting 65% of the region’s waste, and together with “Ekobazė” they will sort 100 percent.
“Ecoservice” and “Ekonovus” waste sorting services will cost a total of 6.1 million euros for half a year. “Ekonovus” is paid 77 euros (excluding VAT) per ton of processed waste, “Ecoservice” – 62.8 euros (excluding VAT).

Meanwhile, the Vilnius cogeneration power plant (VKJ) will burn part of the waste for a total amount of 2.9 million euros – it will be paid by VAATC.
Both the head of VAATC and the mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, promise that residents’ bills for waste management will not increase.
About 700 tons of waste are generated daily in Vilnius County.
