Experts have assessed and determined that a yellow, pink, and green plastic toy designed to hang above a crib or stroller poses a serious risk to children – while playing, there is a danger of choking, suffocation, or injury.

This toy consists of three clown figures and four balls strung on an elastic cord, filled with small plastic beads that create a rattling sound. Two attachment rings are tied at the ends of the cord. The toy is packaged in flexible plastic film packaging.
According to the service, the hanging rattle above the crib is dangerous and does not meet the requirements for toys intended for children under 3 years old.
“During impact testing, the figures and ball bodies cracked and small plastic parts detached, all of which fit entirely into the small parts cylinder; small beads also spilled out from inside the figure, which also fit entirely into the small parts cylinder. During the pull test, the white handle broke, and the detached part fits entirely into the small parts cylinder. After mechanical impact, damage appeared on the body, and after impact testing, the small beads spilled from the figure pass completely through the E template. The toy’s geometric shape does not meet the requirements,” the service states.

Unsafe – and a toy dog
The second dangerous toy is a dog with batteries. The rigid plastic frame is covered with soft plush fabric, and a labeling sticker is attached to the plastic battery compartment box.
“The dog with batteries is dangerous and does not meet the requirements for toys intended for children under 3 years old – the metal bell is hung on a stretchy loop (collar), which can be removed; this bell together with the loop fits entirely into the small parts cylinder. After the pull test, the toy’s nose, eyes, and red ribbons detached and fit into the small parts cylinder. The battery compartment cover protection is insufficient; it can be opened with one motion by pushing the cover’s tab, which does not meet the requirements. Assessing the risk, a serious risk was identified – while playing, there is a danger of choking, suffocation, or injury,” the service’s assessment states.
The Western Lithuania regional department of the State Consumer Rights Protection Service has banned the supply of these dangerous products to the market, ordered their removal from the market, recall from consumers, destruction of the dangerous product in accordance with waste management regulations, warned consumers about the risks associated with the dangerous product, and required providing information to the Service regarding further actions.
