“An interinstitutional commission should investigate if we form one. (…) It is necessary to decide who truly has the competence to investigate and present arguments so that no doubts arise in the future,” the minister told journalists on Wednesday.

“We maintain the position that there was no such prison in Lithuania and that people could not have experienced torture here or otherwise have their rights violated. However, we see court decisions and therefore, if it were decided to start an investigation to answer questions, in my opinion, it should be a joint commission of competent people, a working group that would answer all questions and leave no doubt that this is either politicized or an attempt to cover up,” she said.
