A pre-trial investigation was launched after a young man trampled on the US flag on July 4 in Vilnius, commemorating the 250th anniversary of US independence.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Sausio 13-osios Street, near the Vilnius TV Tower. At that time, preparations were underway to raise a record-sized US flag.

The event organizers reported to the police that a man who arrived climbed over the fence, caused a conflict, attacked to fight, and trampled on the huge US flag lying on the ground.
The arriving police team identified him as Saulius Vinokuras, born in 2005. Last year, after the visit of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to the Paneriai Memorial, he left posters with inscriptions “Sanctions on Israel,” “Never again for anyone #FreePalestine” there.
