I thank you for the sincere words of support sent not only in Lithuania, but also by our compatriots living in Ireland, Greece, Turkey, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, China, Latvia, Russia, who wished me a speedy recovery.
I listened and fulfilled your benevolent requirements. Tomorrow, with a calm step, just as I walk around Kaunas clinics today, I will go home, which is reachable in 10 minutes. I APOLOGIZE TO THOSE WHOM I DISAPPOINTED AND, I BELIEVE, I WILL LIVE ON. They were furious when Lithuania honored me for the first time in my life with the Order of Grand Duke Gediminas, and they seek to prevent me from being on TV “Basketball World”, from leading the Kaunas County branch of the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union, and most importantly, from remaining silent when I see injustices and from speaking my mind directly. Or perhaps this illness is also striking me because of that? But it still doesn’t defeat me! We remind you that on Thursday evening, news spread across Lithuania that 80-year-old journalist Vidas Mačiulis ended up in intensive care. He underwent a heart stenting procedure at LSMU Kaunas Clinics. On Friday morning, the well-known man was already transferred to a ward.
V. Mačiulis, who ended up in the clinics, did not spare kind words for the doctors and all the staff. He told the portal Žmonės.lt that he felt great care there.
“Wonderful doctors, at the highest level, it’s not for nothing that some famous people come here for treatment not only from other cities, but also from Vilnius.
And they care a lot here not because I’m famous, but sincerely, they don’t even know me. In intensive care, there are such partitions with curtains, so I hear how they ask all patients, maybe this is needed, maybe something else, they care a lot,” the well-known journalist shared with Žmonės.lt.
He said that he already feels better, so he would like to work, he even brought a computer here for that.
“Yes, I brought it, I can’t be without work, that’s my character, that’s why I was alive…. But now I can only hold a phone, I can’t work on a computer yet,” said V. Mačiulis.
The famous journalist was glad that the procedure went smoothly and the problem was detected in time.
“Those who envy me, let them continue to envy, I will live for another 10 years,” V. Mačiulis positively concluded the conversation with Žmonės.lt.
