This summer’s M1 slogan is “Season of Love. Summer with M1”. As a token of love to its listeners, the radio station decided to give away this team’s much-loved, M1-era “Audi 100” car. To win, all you had to do was register on the M1 website, wait for the hosts’ call, and most importantly, answer with the phrase “I want herring!”. Listeners who correctly fulfilled this condition entered the game’s final, and a winner was chosen by lot from all of them on Friday.

The last journey – with adventures
“Silkutė” embarked on its last journey from Vilnius to Klaipėda with M1 hosts Arnoldas Eisimantas and Gedas Saročka on Friday before noon. Along the way, greetings from passing drivers were counted – it’s no surprise that everyone recognizes “Silkutė” from afar. It’s accustomed to applause, honks, and wide smiles. They also had to make a few unplanned stops on the side of the highway. The 1989 ‘Audi 100’ doesn’t like journeys without adventures, so the crew had to figure out how to secure the constantly opening trunk.
Upon reaching Klaipėda, this unique car also managed to participate in a live broadcast of the M1 show “Čia mano radijas”, became an object of curiosity, and later – a part of the Sea Festival parade.
The culmination awaited in the evening, on the festival stage. Here, lots were drawn, and the new owner of “Silkutė” was chosen.
Receiving the prize, M1 listener A. Žymantas said he first plans to go to Druskininkai with “Silkutė”. When asked how many fines he had paid so far, the man claimed only two, one of them by his wife. After this answer, with a calmer heart, A. Eisimantas handed over the keys.
“I heard about winning ‘Silkė’ on the radio during work. I dropped everything and rushed to register. I’ve won M1 prizes before, but this one is the best,” A. Žymantas rejoiced, having just stepped off the stage.

From Norway to weddings
On the occasion of National Men’s Day this year, “Silkutė”, which traveled through Norway with the M1 Men’s Expedition and became its star, can truly be called a historic car – not only because of the events experienced and recorded in the radio station’s history, but also because almost everyone recognizes and greets it with smiles on the roads.
“Agree, many older, classic cars on the street attract more attention than those that have just rolled out of the showroom. They have their own emotion, so passing by, they make even the gloomiest passerby smile. ‘Silkutė’ is exactly like that. It’s a prize with a history. Those who followed the adventures of the M1 Men’s Expedition saw that they had to push it, pull it, look for car services, and crawl into the trunk through the cabin. The value of this prize is measured not in money, but in stories,” said A. Eisimantas.
In a few months, this car experienced as much as few experience in a lifetime. After returning from the expedition in Norway, “Silkutė” also managed to participate in M1 listeners’ wedding in Kaunas, in several live radio broadcasts, and was tested by famous national artists who came to the shows.
“For me, ‘Silkutė’ is an adventure car. What we experienced during the expedition will remain in my memory until the end of my life. This car has become a vivid part of M1’s history, and now it will be able to create unforgettable memories for one of the listeners. I hope to cross paths with it again someday, somewhere,” A. Eisimantas smiled.
