On Saturday, the banks of the Neris river, stretching from Vingis Park bridge to Žirmūnai bridge, will host a day full of active leisure, music, and experiences by the water for Vilnius residents and city guests, according to the organizers.

On this day, a civic action will take place on Žvėrynas bridge, during which Vilnius residents will urge to stop the increasingly intensive development of the Neris riverbanks and the expansion of car infrastructure near the river.
“St. Christopher’s Day is a good opportunity to turn to the Neris, which connects Vilnius not only geographically, but also through daily routes, memories, and city life. We want Vilnius residents to come to the river consciously – to be, to meet, to relax or to spend time actively,” said Vilnius City Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.
During the festival, cultural, sports, and entertainment activities will take place in different areas of the Neris riverbanks: concerts, open-air cinema screenings, dances, creative workshops, readings, book club meetings, family activities, sports sessions, and community initiatives.

One of the most prominent highlights of the festival will be the “Red Bull Tandemynės” – a bicycle show on water, held for the first time in the Baltic States, where teams will compete not only in speed but also in ingenuity.
Meanwhile, participants of the action organized on Žirmūnai bridge will urge to switch to advanced urban planning, the basis of which is the preservation of the natural framework, recognizing natural riverbanks as important infrastructure for urban health and climate resilience.
The objects currently planned or already under development on the Neris riverbanks are cited as causing the greatest concern: the new Žirmūnai rowing base, a private operator’s sauna complex in Vingis Park, the expansion of the Winter Port, and a residential block at Žirmūnų g. 3A.
