“Many harbor illusions, saying that Russia must fully withdraw its troops and so on… But that is unrealistic. I have long advocated for peace. A few years ago, I wrote that it is truly necessary to make certain concessions to Russia. This is not a pro-Russian position. I am simply pragmatic,” E. Musk stated in an interview with The Economist magazine.

He also noted that the front line in Ukraine has not moved “for two to three years,” and “many people are dying on the front lines every day.”
The billionaire expressed hope that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine would be reached “in the near future.”
“I am very angry with arrogant diplomats who host lavish dinners while people are dying on the front lines, and who talk extensively about Russia having to withdraw [from Ukraine], but do not intend to go to Russia themselves,” the businessman added.

And earlier, E. Musk has spoken about the necessity of stopping the war. In March 2025, in an interview with Fox News, he expressed his conviction that the war would end with a peace agreement, and noted that President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the conflict are the only plan that “will truly work.”
Furthermore, in February of last year, when relations between Kyiv and Washington escalated, E. Musk called President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “evil” and accused him of prolonging the war, describing him as an “endless meat grinder of corruption.”
Nevertheless, at the beginning of 2026, the billionaire, having received a request from Ukrainian authorities, blocked the Russian army’s ability to use the Starlink satellite system, which complicated the communication of Russian units and significantly slowed down the advance of the Russian armed forces.
