Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service reported that a man in his 30s was pronounced dead near the Havat Gilad settlement. Two other people, both in their 20s, were evacuated by helicopter due to gunshot wounds; one of them is in serious condition.

The Israeli army stated that it deployed troops after receiving reports of an attack on Israeli civilians walking near Havat Gilad.

According to the army, the attackers seized the weapon of a security force member who arrived at the scene and opened fire on the hikers.

An AFP journalist reported that checkpoints were set up around the scene, and the army stated it was still searching for the attackers.

In his statement, B. Netanyahu promised to “act with full force against terrorists and those who organize and support them.”

All Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law.

Official Israeli data shows that at least 47 Israelis, including civilians and security forces, have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip.

According to an AFP analysis of data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 1,094 Palestinians, including both militants and civilians, were killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers during the same period.
