Volkswagen's profit fell, more layoffs are being considered

The group of ten brands reported a net profit of 1.54 billion euros in the three months to the end of June, which is 32.9 percent less than in the same period last year. The figure for the entire last year was almost 37 percent lower than in 2024.

According to Volkswagen, the result was negatively impacted by 500 million euros in costs incurred by the carmaker for discontinuing production of its electric model ID.4 in the US, as well as a “negative portfolio effect,” meaning the car giant sold more lower-margin products.
