According to him, Lithuania pays more attention to the British-initiated MDM project, as it covers not only financing but also aspects of cooperation in defense procurement: “Lithuania participates in discussions related to this initiative at an expert level.”

At the NATO summit in Ankara in early July, two international initiatives for the financing of defense and its industry were announced. Canada announced the establishment of the Defense, Security and Resilience Bank. Eight states have already joined the initiative – Latvia, Albania, Belgium, Greece, Luxembourg, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.

Next year, the Multilateral Defense Mechanism is planned to start operating – it was initiated by the United Kingdom together with Poland, the Netherlands, and Finland.
