He also emphasized that the implementation of the project in Latvia is hindered by a “witch hunt,” which means that due to fear of investigations being launched and culprits being sought, decisions are made very cautiously and slowly. “Such a culture does not help the project move forward,” said O. Daugavietis.
He noted that there is currently a lot of public discussion about when the project will be completed, but the deadline set by the European Commission (EC) remains unchanged, and the project must be implemented by 2030. Estonia, in turn, is moving in this direction, and Lithuania is working as quickly as it can. The question is how much it will fall behind schedule, but there are quite a few problems on the Latvian side, and progress is slow enough to cause delays.
