Russia’s state news agency announced that Yelena Isinbayeva’s bank accounts have been blocked due to a debt of 55 thousand rubles (600 euros) incurred for taxes on a summer residence in the Volgograd region.

“The amount of the debt has been taken from Isinbayeva’s account, as well as late fees,” the statement said.
According to documents, the debt was incurred between 2024 and 2025.
Last year, Russian media reported that the famous pole vaulter’s bank accounts were blocked.
When Russia started the war in Ukraine, J. Isinbayeva was included in the list of sanctioned individuals compiled by Ukrainians.
But the athlete, who had previously been awarded military ranks, removed Vladimir Putin’s photos from her social media accounts and moved to live on the island of Tenerife, where she owns real estate.

In 2023, there were reports that she also acquired Spanish citizenship.
J. Isinbayeva, 44, who has already ended her career, is considered one of the best pole vaulters of all time.

The Russian has won Olympic gold medals at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games, as well as three world championship titles and four more indoor world championship titles.
J. Isinbayeva still holds the world pole vault record (5 m 6 cm), achieved in 2009.
