“Throughout Lithuania, we would not find any other event that could compare to the Sea Festival. It is unique and unlike anything else – it is inspired by the sea, the freedom and opportunities it provides, the ships constantly striving towards the horizon, the people of the sea, the port. The Sea Festival connects us every year and invites us to feel its unique maritime spirit, to cherish and preserve these traditions. We are proud to be an important part of the festival every year and to present events and initiatives that open and bring the port closer to each of us. I believe that another unforgettable festival awaits us all, and I invite you not to miss it,” says Algis Latakas, General Director of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority.

Continuing a beautiful maritime tradition, Klaipėda Port Authority and its head A. Latakas remain the patrons of one of the most important events of the entire festival – the grand festival procession. The Sea Festival procession, which brings together teams from port and city companies and organizations with impressive-sized equipment used in the port, will this year reflect the Sea Festival theme “Like in a Movie”. Its participants will invite you on a memorable journey through the world of famous film characters, scenes, and episodes. This year’s procession, resembling a true carnival, will be exceptionally massive – it is estimated that about 6,000 participants from more than 75 organizations, institutions, businesses, and communities will march through the central streets of the city. After the procession brings the festival to the city and finishes at the Cruise Ship Terminal, its opening will be announced there.
The events presented by Klaipėda Port Authority will continue on Saturday. Fans of excitement and sports already know that every year during the Sea Festival, on Saturday, from early morning, the Danė River boils with dragon boat races for the Klaipėda Port Cup, always stirring up many emotions. This year, the event is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Klaipėda Port Authority, so it will be even more fun than before, and awards await not only the fastest but also the most originally dressed teams.
