As 15min has already reported, last Friday, July 17, inspectors from the Klaipėda District Supervision Department of the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) inspected the café “Sporto lizdas” operating on J. Basanavičius Street in Palanga.

During the inspection, a whole series of serious hygiene and food safety violations were found, which could pose a direct threat to visitors’ health.
Inspectors found expired and unclear origin food products, identified a risk of cross-contamination, and vegetables were being handled outdoors, next to garbage.

Food and drinks were served to visitors in insufficiently washed dishes. Due to unsanitary conditions and obvious disregard for food safety requirements, it was decided to immediately suspend the company’s operations.
“Sporto lizdas” could only reopen after a repeated VMVT inspection, during which it would be confirmed that all listed deficiencies had been eliminated.

However, as recorded by 15min journalists, the establishment was in no hurry to cease operations.
