The traditional and historical ships association organizes the traditional and historical ships regatta “Burpilis” in 2026 to commemorate the 250th birth anniversary of the Curonian Lagoon Lithuanian culture researcher Martynas Liudvikas Rėza (1776–1840).

The regatta in the Curonian Lagoon will take place this year from July 21 to 24. Sailing ships gather in Nida on July 20 (Monday) for the stage named after the reviver and nurturer of the Curonian Lagoon culture, Eduard Jonušas (1932–2014).
Up to 12 wooden sailing ships are expected at the Nida pier.
On July 21 (Tuesday), there will be a competition on the course in front of Nida.
On July 22 (Wednesday) morning, the start is to the eastern shore of the lagoon from Nida to Kintai in the stage named after the chief fishing inspector of the lagoon, Ernst Wilhelm Berbom (1786–1865).

On July 23 (Thursday), the stage named after historian and traditional Curonian Lagoon navigation researcher Romaldas Adomavičius (1955–2019) – from Kintai to Juodkrantė.
On July 24 (Friday), the Sea Festival stage from Juodkrantė to Klaipėda.
The regatta will feature kurėnai, venterinės boats, vytinės, reisinė, sielininkų boat, ungurinė and Viking Age ships. The regatta ships and their crews arriving from the Curonian Lagoon will join the Sea Festival in Klaipėda and celebrate the centenary of Lithuanian maritime sailing.

July 23 (Thursday) 11 a.m. start of R. Adomavičius senior stage from Kintai to Juodkrantė, 6 p.m. meeting with the local community.
July 24 (Friday) 11 a.m. start of the Sea Festival stage from Juodkrantė to Klaipėda, 4 p.m. stop at Smiltynė near Kurhaus, 8 p.m. departure to the festival opening ceremony, 9 p.m. sailing past the Castle Bridge near the Dangė river quay.
July 25 (Saturday) 7 p.m. regatta “Burpilis” awards, 11 p.m. night parade of traditional and historical ships between Biržos and Castle bridges.
July 26 (Sunday) 9 a.m. Castle Bridge is raised and ships sail into the lagoon.
