The government proposes to appoint Andrius Kalindra as ambassador to Greece, and Lina Gubrevičiūtė to Croatia

Appointed by Gitanas Nausėda, A. Kalindra will replace Lina Skerstonaitė, who is being recalled from Greece, in the position from August 11, while L. Gubrevičiūtė will take over the post from Eduardo Borisov from September 15.

The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the dismissal of the latter from their duties during the Wednesday meeting.

L. Gubrevičiūtė is a former advisor to G. Nausėda on foreign policy issues and has also worked at the permanent Lithuanian mission to NATO.

At the same time, A. Kalindra served as ambassador to Georgia, advising Saulius Skvernelis on foreign policy issues when he was Prime Minister and Speaker of the Seimas.

The diplomat has also worked in diplomatic missions in Russia, at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna, at the United Nations in New York, and led the Government Chancellery’s International Relations and EU group for five years.

Upon the President’s appointment, A. Kalindra will also be Lithuania’s representative to Albania, and L. Gubrevičiūtė to Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

Ambassadors in Lithuania are appointed and dismissed by the President, with the approval of the Seimas Foreign Affairs Committee and the Government.
