“How good it is that municipalities have nowhere to put the money!” – ironized the farmer who became famous in musical TV projects.
However, M. Diliautas immediately received a response – opposing opinions poured in under his comment.
“What difference does it make whether it’s in their own pocket or SEL’s. At least people had fun here, elsewhere they do nothing at all, at the city festival the bands sing for free,” wrote one woman.
“This is money collected from people, so they used it for people to enjoy. What’s wrong with that,” agreed another.
“They put it where they wanted,” emphasized yet another woman.
And others asked Mindaugas – maybe he is jealous?
- “Jealous? Don’t cry!”
- “Then you should have offered to sing for SEL for free!”
Žmonės.lt reminds that the jubilee events dedicated to Ignalina’s 160th birthday have just taken place. On Saturday evening, the cherry on top was the SEL group concert.
The most famous hits of Egidijus Dragūnas’s group were played here.
A crowd of thousands flocked to the celebration. During the concert, it simply went wild.
Simona Smirnova and Alec Hutson, Nora Blu, and “Lemon Joy” also performed.
We remind you that the SEL concert in Ignalina previously sparked quite a bit of controversy. Not everyone was happy that they would perform here, and the revealed event cost added fuel to the fire. However, the Ignalina Cultural Center hurried to provide an explanation.
“We want to clearly inform the public that 145 thousand euros (including VAT) is the total value of the technical and organizational project. This amount includes not only the more than two-hour concert program of performer Egidijus Dragūnas with the SEL group, but also the installation of a professional stage according to a special project, modern sound and lighting systems, LED screens, technical support for event broadcasts, stage structure assembly and disassembly, work of technical staff, logistics, service, and all other infrastructure necessary for a safe and high-quality event.
All this technical base with the servicing staff will work for two days – servicing the concerts on July 17 and 18. An event of this scale requires the work of dozens of specialists, professional equipment, and complex technical solutions that ensure quality and the safety of performers and spectators.
We also want to draw attention to another recurring inaccurate information in the public space. Some articles claim that about 1,500 euros were allocated for pyrotechnic services and almost 4,000 euros for training services for the city festival.
These figures are not related to the Ignalina city jubilee festival. They are separate lines from public procurements of other, already held events, which are misleadingly associated with the organization of the city festival. Therefore, such interpretations do not reflect the actual budget of the jubilee festival and may mislead the public. The exact content of the service contract is public and published according to the established procedure.
Ignalina’s 160th anniversary is not just the big evening concert. It is a city-wide celebration encompassing cultural, sports, educational, and community events, bringing together Ignalina residents, compatriots, and city guests. The Saturday concert is only one part of this broad program.
