Darius Songaila’s trainees won against Poland 100:84 (21:20, 30:18, 21:24, 28:22) at the Old Continent Championship held in Slovenia and will compete for 9th place in the European Championship on Sunday.

After the first quarter, the Lithuanians were ahead by only a minimal margin (21:20). Our team won the second quarter 30:18 and the teams went to the locker rooms with the Lithuanian youth team leading 51:38.
In the third quarter, the Lithuanians had built a 15-point lead, and after 30 minutes Lithuania was ahead 72:62. In the fourth quarter, D. Songaila’s trainees shifted into a higher gear again and with 3 minutes left were leading 95:75.
Symbolically, the 100th point was scored with a precise three-pointer by the top scorer of the match, Gabrielius Jokubauskas, at the start of the last minute of the game.
We remind you that Lithuania in the U20 European Championship group stage defeated Latvia, lost to Serbia, and beat Poland. In the round of 16, the Lithuanians lost to the Turkish basketball players. In the matches for 9th–16th places, our team defeated Belgium and once again beat the Poles.
