For the first time in history, FIFA will present the world champions not only with trophies and medals but also with champions’ rings. This tradition has existed in North American sports since the late 19th century, but it is not common in other countries around the world.
Since this year’s World Cup final is held in the USA, FIFA honored this particular tradition with this decision. The players of the team that becomes world champions will, as usual, receive gold medals, and the team captain and head coach will be presented with temporary champions’ rings shortly after the final.

Later, 30 individually customized rings will be made for the winners. One side will feature the World Cup trophy, and the other side will be designed to reflect the identity of the team that became champions.
A total of 2026 rings will be made – the number symbolizes the year of the World Cup. Each will be numbered, customized for the specific owner, and will have a certificate of authenticity. The remaining 1996 rings, which will not go to the champions, will be sold to the public.
