The incident occurred in the industrial area of the northern city of Nioresundby.
“A civilian man and a police officer present at the crime scene were injured by the gunfire. The civilian died. The condition of the injured police officer is stable,” the regional police service stated in a released statement.
“We do not yet know the exact circumstances, especially the reason for the shooting. That is precisely what we will seek to clarify during the upcoming investigation,” said Claus Dano, a senior police officer quoted in the statement.
