Their friendship began on the project “The Voice of Lithuania,” where Rosita Čivilytė was a vocal mentor. “I learned a lot from her not only about music and singing but also about myself as a musician, and I love her very much for that. We still cross paths in the studio because life turned out so that we work nearby. I am very happy that our paths continue to cross,” says Monika Marija.

Monika Marija does not hide that acoustic performances are her favorite because they allow feeling the closest connection with the listener, and the chamber space of the Dubingiai church will add extra magic to the performance.
“I thought about the environment where the concert will take place – it is sacred and special, so I want to adapt to it, to merge into it. But, on the other hand, I believe that most magic is always created by people. Acoustic concerts are my favorite and most precious because they offer a good opportunity to meet more intimately and see the listeners’ eyes. Such concerts are a great chance to share the stories behind the songs and what inspired them. I am very happy about this upcoming concert and sincerely look forward to it myself. I like to tell stories through music, I love memorable, live melodies and the live sound of instruments,” the performer says.
Country-style music, becoming a way of life
After a long search, the singer found herself in a genre that intertwines with her personal values and lifestyle. To feel the roots of this music, last year Monika Marija spent several months in the state of Montana, drawing inspiration for the creation of her new album. Choosing to live in a local environment with horses, she now laughs saying that she wrote more song ideas there “without writing them down” than sitting with a guitar in her hands forcing herself to create.

“I searched for my direction and style for a very long time. I looked for something that would completely sum me up, and now I found what perfectly matches my values. Country-style music is about live performance and true stories – meaningful, earthy, and human, and these themes are timeless, relevant to all generations. I think listeners have also missed a somewhat different kind of music – we had quite a lot of time to try modern technologies, and sometimes it seems we are already oversaturated with that abundance. Because of that, we gradually miss the old approach, a calmer lifestyle, and authenticity,” Monika Marija shares her thoughts.
The singer also follows these values in everyday life. She values quality and slowness: she likes spending time in nature, cooking food, and baking homemade bread herself. According to Monika Marija, everything that is of quality in life takes time, and that is the true beauty. Such calmness and homely coziness will also emanate from the upcoming evening in Dubingiai.
