In the video, he added: “I am at the ‘Pamario laivų sanatorija’ in Šilutė. ‘Kuršis’ has been reborn with its new color. We decided it needed to be repainted because there were certain flaws left that needed to be removed, so now everything – ‘Kuršis’ has received a new color. I want to still manage to do a christening in the Baltic Sea.”
We remind you that at the beginning of spring, A. Mockus announced another ambitious goal – in 2027, he will try to cross the Indian Ocean alone in a rowing boat.

“In 2027, I will row ‘Kuršis’ across the Indian Ocean. Without escort. Without an engine. Without a backup way back. Thousands of kilometers of open water will await me again, mystical unknown, oppressive loneliness, and that boundary beyond which only human will remains,” the traveler wrote on Facebook at that time.

A. Mockus has already experienced a similar challenge – earlier, he rowed alone across the Pacific Ocean, but the journey was disrupted by a typhoon encounter.
Then – on October 15, 2024 – the Klaipėda native set off alone in the single rowing boat “Kuršis” from San Diego Bay (USA) intending to reach the shores of Australia, but as his journey was nearing its end, a typhoon caught the traveler, forcing him to send a distress signal.
Australian rescue services rushed to the Lithuanian’s aid without delay. After a successful rescue operation, he was brought back to Australia, but his boat “Kuršis” was left in the Coral Sea. Later it was found and it seems it is now preparing not only for the journey across the Indian Ocean but also across the Baltic Sea.
