On the “TikTok” network (user name “alainaspeaksss”), Alaina, who lives in Atlanta, revealed that the jar found in the fridge by her husband was actually her hair straightening product – a rich mixture of shea butter, honey, and cocoa butter. Although the description sounds delicious, this hair product is not edible. In the post description, she explained how this confusion might have happened: after using the product, she put the remainder in the fridge. Before starting to eat the contents, her husband apparently did not read the label on the jar. This all ended with facial swelling and a night in the emergency room, reports “Newsweek.”
The hair straightening product straightens, conditions, and cares for curly hair. The active ingredient in the product eaten by the husband is mineral oil and others – including ammonium thioglycolate, guanidine hydroxide, polyethylene glycol, sodium hydroxide. Poisoning with hair straightening product occurs when one of these substances is swallowed.
“Medline Plus” recommends seeking medical attention immediately if this substance is ingested. If it gets on the skin or in the eyes, the affected area should be washed with water for 15 minutes. If the straightening product is swallowed (as happened in this case), the affected person should immediately drink water or milk unless otherwise instructed. Swallowing the product can damage the stomach and intestines. Vomiting, blood in stools, esophageal burns, or severe abdominal pain may occur. The video posted by Alaina did not specify exactly what symptoms her husband experienced at that time.

On the “TikTok” platform, many people reacted to this incident jokingly. “Those intestines will be STRAIGHT soon!!!” wrote one person, referring to the straightening power of the product. However, others questioned why the husband ate the so-called “ice cream” in the fridge without hesitation, rather than in the freezer, and whether he did not smell the unusual scent, as well as why the woman put this hair product in the fridge at all.
Although many questions still arise about why this happened, commentators can be reassured – in the end, everything turned out well for the husband, although next time, when reaching for his favorite ice cream box, he will probably think twice. “Newsweek” contacted @alainaspeaksss via “TikTok” asking for a comment on the situation. It was not possible to confirm the details of the incident.
