Over the past five years, housing prices in Lithuania have increased by almost 80%, and in Estonia by 58%. Meanwhile, prices in Latvia have risen by 51%. The EU average over the same period was only 26%.

Margit Volt, head of the mortgage loan development department at Luminor Bank in Estonia, noted that Eurostat data published at the beginning of July shows not only rapid price growth but also that people highly value owning their own home.
