On Tuesday, in the krepsinis.net show “MISsMATCH” with Gabrielė Miknevičiūtė, D. Adomaitis elaborated on his motives.

“They contacted me, but… After thinking and evaluating everything, the situation as it is – the simple decision was to say ‘no’.

“Everything together,” he said in response to an additional question about whether he did not want to get involved in the difficult situation in the selection process in which the national team found itself, or if there were other circumstances unrelated to basketball.

“There is no need to bring patriotism into this. I think we are all patriots of our country. Patriotism has nothing to do with this. Simply, a situation has arisen that is completely unjustifiable. It cannot be like this in our basketball. There simply must be changes in basketball. There is no other option,” the strategist told krepsinis.net.

On Tuesday, the association “Lithuanian Basketball” also issued a statement saying that the decision regarding the continuity of R. Kurtinaitis’s work or his replacement coach will be made by July 24.
