The amendments clarify provisions regarding the qualification improvement of specialists providing long-term care services. It is established that the deadline for mandatory qualification improvement requirements is postponed until January 1, 2029. It is planned that general practice nurses and nurse assistants must have completed a qualification improvement program in the basics of long-term care services lasting no less than 120 hours and have a certificate confirming this.
In cases where these specialists have not completed the prescribed program before starting to provide long-term care services, there is an obligation to complete it and obtain the certificate no later than 12 months from the start of providing long-term care services in the institution.

This legal regulation aims to ensure that specialists providing long-term care services have the same basic skills and knowledge necessary for quality, safe, and comprehensive service provision.
The amendments aim to create conditions for long-term care service providers to properly prepare for the new regulation, ensure service quality, and consistent implementation of requirements. It also takes into account that the effective dates of the Long-term Care Service Provision Procedure Description and related provisions coincide with the entry into force of the prepared Long-term Care Law, which will systematically regulate the provision of long-term care services from January 1, 2029.
