Ani Lorak, who acquired Russian citizenship – a difficult time: has her career come to an end?

On social networks, Ani Lorak tries to create an image of a perfect life and demonstrate alleged love from Russian fans, but the reality, it is claimed, is quite different. Her concerts have started to be massively canceled in Russia, with the official reason being a “ambiguous position.” OBOZ.UA writes about how the singer’s life has unfolded.

On June 9, 2025, Ani Lorak officially renounced her Ukrainian citizenship. According to Russian media, on that day she received a Russian passport under her real name – Karolina Kuiek.

According to blogger Bohdan Bespalov, this step was motivated not only by the desire to finally establish herself in Russia but also by financial benefits – having obtained Russian citizenship, the performer pays significantly lower taxes.

This news caused a great stir among radical Russian war supporters. Vitaliy Borodin, head of the Federal Security and Anti-Corruption project, demanded that Lorak publicly state her position on the so-called “special military operation” to the entire country. Similar demands were repeatedly made by other Russian citizens, especially after an ironic campaign spread in Ukraine, where people “thanked” the singer for alleged support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers.

However, Ani Lorak never clearly stated her political position, and soon she suffered a painful blow. In early summer 2026, the authorities of Khabarovsk, South Sakhalin, and Vladivostok canceled her concerts one after another. In Vladivostok, she was directly demanded to clearly speak out about the war, but she did not do so.

Lorak was also left without work in the spring. Many of her performances were canceled, which unsettled her so much that when talking to journalists, she even switched to the Ukrainian language. Speaking about her critics, she said: “They say that mental illnesses worsen in spring. Therefore, they should pay more attention to prevention.” Instead of the Russian word “mental,” she pronounced the Ukrainian-sounding form.

However, concert cancellations are not the only problem Lorak has faced. According to her team members, after marrying the so-called “African shaman” Isaac Vidzrak, she changed drastically and eventually directs any conversation towards talks about “vibrations and energy flows.”

“I have known Karolina for many years. She was always cheerful and very sincere. But now when you start talking to her, it seems like she is not really here. Her gaze is kind of blurred, detached. Earlier, during tours, we could talk about anything, but now in every conversation, she starts talking about vibrations, energy flows, and similar things,” people from the singer’s circle said.

By the way, Russian media also report that Vidzrak is allegedly trying to persuade Lorak to buy real estate in Spain. It is said that the man is tired of the cold in Russia and constant traveling, so he would like to settle abroad.

However, despite a strong desire to become a star in the Russian entertainment world, Lorak has not completely cut ties with Ukraine.

As OBOZ.UA found out, nine real estate properties are registered in the singer’s name in Kyiv, with a total market value now reaching millions of dollars. She owns apartments in the Pozniaky residential area, the “Park Avenue VIP” residential complex, and the so-called “tsar’s house” in the Shevchenko district, in the center of Kyiv.
