A 7.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the southern coast of Mexico, after which a tsunami warning was issued, reported the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake’s epicenter was near Puerto Madero – an important Pacific Ocean port and fishing town located about 13 km from the Guatemala border, in the state of Chiapas.

According to USGS data, the earthquake’s focus was at a depth of 10 km.
