As reported by the authorities, 22 people died in this accident, and another 28 were injured.
The accident occurred on the road connecting the Red Sea coast resorts of Dahab and Nuweiba in South Sinai – a region known for its beaches, coral reefs, and mountain landscapes attracting visitors from around the world.
Among the dead are 10 Jordanian citizens, reported the kingdom’s state television “al Mamlaka”. According to its data, 43 people were on the bus, of whom 22 are Jordanians.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health increased the death toll – earlier reports mentioned 16 victims. According to the ministry, 20 ambulances were sent to the scene, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Officials have not yet provided information about the causes of the accident.

Car accidents in Egypt are common. They are mostly blamed on careless driving, poor road maintenance, and improper law enforcement.
Last month, at least 18 people died in northern Egypt when two pickups carrying agricultural day laborers collided, many of them teenagers.
According to the Egyptian state statistics agency, nearly 6,000 people died in traffic accidents across the country last year.
