Works on Nemunas Island continue – an electrical input is being laid into the "pedestrian paths"

On Sunday evening, in the footage captured by the portal “Kas vyksta Kaune”, rolls of blue plastic pipes stretch across the island, freshly dug pits are fenced off in several places along the paths, and next to one of them stands a horizontal directional drilling machine, designed for laying pipes underground without trenches.

Back in June, Kaunas City Municipality signed an agreement with the designer “URBAN LINE” for the reconstruction of electricity networks at this address. It stipulates that the capacity will be increased to 160 kilowatts. On Sunday, the pipes stretched from the bridge side all the way to the site where pile foundations remain underground.

According to the “Kaunas IN” sign agreement, the Ferris wheel structures must be in place by the end of August, and the illuminated name “Sky View” must be operational by September 13. The electrical input is being laid in the last week of August. “Kaunas IN” representatives previously noted to the portal that the schedules for the installation of the Ferris wheel sign may be adjusted according to the situation.

Construction Inspectorate awaited documents from the municipality and “Autokausta”

The Construction Inspectorate, when asked about the progress of the investigation, provided the portal with a similar answer as a few weeks ago.

“Mandatory instructions have been submitted to the Kaunas City Municipality Administration and the contractor UAB “Autokausta” to provide information and documents related to the ongoing construction works by August 21. Upon receipt of the requested documentation, the factual circumstances will be assessed and appropriate decisions will be made,” the inspectorate stated, adding that it would not provide conclusions on the mandatory nature of the permit and the purpose of the structures until the end of the investigation.

As the portal “Kas vyksta Kaune” already wrote, the only public contract for contracting works at this site was signed not by the municipality, which is indicated as the builder on the construction site board, but by its managed waste management company UAB “Kauno švara” – on July 28, the day the works began, a contract worth 17.4 thousand EUR was concluded through an unannounced survey, covering only path surfaces, without any pile or foundation works.
