As 15min stated, representatives of the VMVT reported last Friday that the responsible authorities in Latvia announced that salmonella bacteria (Salmonella Agona and Salmonella Infantis) were found in marinated chicken thigh meat from Lithuania.

“Information was received that the product was distributed in Lithuania, in “Rimi Lietuva” stores. Retail locations are recalling the product from the market. Consumers who purchased the unsafe product are urged not to consume it and to return it to the stores. Information regarding quantities is currently being clarified,” said VMVT representatives to 15min.
“Rimi” marketing and communications manager Dalia Čenkienė told 15min that the recall of this product from customers took place from July 21 to July 27, and the expiration date was July 13.
D. Čenkienė also commented that food safety is one of the most important priorities throughout the entire food supply chain, so “Rimi” constantly implements control and prevention measures to ensure that customers receive safe and quality products.

“Nevertheless, food production is a complex supply chain, so in individual cases information about a possible non-compliance may be identified only after the product has been placed on the market. In such cases, upon receiving information from suppliers or responsible authorities, immediate action is taken – products are removed from sale, the State Food and Veterinary Service is informed, and customers are provided with information about the recall and further steps,” said D. Čenkienė.
According to her, customers are informed about product recalls in stores, and those who purchased the recalled product can return it and get a refund according to the specific recall conditions.
15min also contacted the company “Nematekas,” which produced the mentioned chicken product – once a response is received, the publication will be updated.
