A post has spread on the social network “Facebook” warning about a possible new scam method on the “Vinted” platform, where artificial intelligence may be used in disputes over the condition of an item.

The post tells about an alleged case that happened in Poland.
“In Poland, a seller sold a hand-knitted bunny to a buyer. The buyer, upon receiving the item, claimed that the bunny was torn. “Vinted” refunded the buyer, and the seller was left without both money and the item.
Later, people started looking for more information about the buyer and found an Instagram photo in her profiles where the same bunny looks completely intact,” the post says.

The seller allegedly suspects that the buyer may have used artificial intelligence to generate or edit a photo in which the bunny appears torn. It is claimed that “Vinted” believed this photo and made the decision to refund the buyer.
“Therefore, I kindly ask all sellers to be cautious, save photos of their items before sending them, photograph or film their packaging, and, if possible, have additional evidence of the item’s condition,” the post continues.
