The Belarusian representative defeated the home player Jessica Pegula (WTA-3) in the first semifinal in 1 hour and 20 minutes with a score of 7:5, 6:2.
For the 28-year-old tennis player, this will be her fourth consecutive “US Open” final, and on Saturday evening she will aim to become champion for the third year in a row.
Demonstrating fierce offense, A. Sabalenka became the first tennis player in the “Open Era” to reach eight consecutive finals in “Grand Slam” tournaments on hard courts. Until now, Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, and Novak Djokovic were tied with seven.
Moreover, she is only the sixth tennis player in the “Open Era” to reach at least four consecutive “US Open” finals. The Belarusian will seek to extend her winning streak in New York to 21.
However, in the final, the champion will face an opponent who will become the new WTA ranking leader next Monday – Jelena Rybakina (WTA-2).

The Kazakh representative defeated American Coco Gauff (WTA-3) in a three-set drama with a score of 3:6, 6:4, 6:4 and reached her first career “US Open” final.
Overall, for the 27-year-old tennis player, this will be her fourth “Grand Slam” final, while for the Belarusian, it will be her ninth.
In their head-to-head matches, A. Sabalenka leads 10:7, but they have split victories in “Grand Slam” finals – in 2023 in Melbourne the Belarusian triumphed, and this year in Australia the Kazakh achieved a revenge.
However, for at least one thing J. Rybakina can certainly feel calm – the outcome of the final will not affect the WTA ranking and she will undoubtedly surpass Sabalenka.
