At the end of last week, the leaders of Kazlų Rūda Municipality and UAB “Kazlų Rūdos energija” had the opportunity to inspect and test the new buses, which were blessed by the Kazlų Rūda parish priest Žydrūnas Kulpys before hitting the road.
The modern buses with 16 seats are perfectly adapted to transport people with disabilities – they are equipped not only with a lift entrance but also have the ability to raise or lower the bus. There is an option to charge mobile devices near the seats, and next to the space for disabled persons, there is a place for a guide dog for the visually impaired.

A new generation electric vehicle charging park opened on the Vilnius–Klaipėda road
Powerful Polestar electric cars will be sold in Lithuania
The buses can travel about 500 km on a single charge, so it is expected that they will not need to be charged every day, allowing the possibility to take advantage of electricity price fluctuations. “Kazlų Rūdos energija” also has a 0.5 megawatt power plant, which will allow saving on operating costs. The buses also have an autonomous heating system, which will ensure smooth operation in winter when it gets colder.
These buses and their charging stations were purchased as part of the project “Acquisition of Kazlų Rūda city and suburban public transport vehicles.” The project was implemented by the municipal company “Kazlų Rūdos energija” and is administered by the Central Project Management Agency. The project received more than 337 thousand euros of European Union funds, and “Kazlų Rūdos energija” allocated nearly 115 thousand euros.
Thus, it can be stated that after several decades of hiatus, Kazlų Rūda finally has its own bus fleet again. For now, it is not large, but it is expected to grow over time.
