Theft in Vilnius Old Town solved after six months: suspects behind bars, safe found in the Neris River

As reported by the police, at the end of October 2025, a locked apartment in Vilnius Old Town was broken into. Luxury watches, jewelry, cash, documents, electronic devices, and a safe with valuables inside were stolen.

The victim suffered damages exceeding 147 thousand euros.

Officers from the Vilnius County Police Headquarters Criminal Police Property Crime Investigation Division, conducting a pre-trial investigation into the high-value theft, carried out covert investigative actions and analyzed the collected information, identifying possible perpetrators of the crime.

One of the suspects, a man born in 1984, was detained and confessed to committing the theft together with an accomplice born in 1980.

The second suspect is also linked to another theft from premises in Vilnius Old Town.

The court imposed the strictest preventive measure on both men – detention.

During the investigation, officers found a safe possibly related to the crime. It was retrieved from the Neris River.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
