The door is suddenly slammed shut by a famous sports club

About the discontinued activity was announced Monday evening by the club’s founder and manager Tomas Kesminas – according to him, the activity in the shopping center “Studlendas” on H. Manto street will end on September 14.

“We are closing it. ‘Studlendas’ was an important part of our club network, thousands of Klaipėda residents exercised here, our community grew. Sentiments make it hard to speak, but everything – only for the better,” said T. Kesminas in a video posted on Facebook.

Thus, he denied the information previously given to those exercising that this space would reopen in spring after reconstruction.

It seems that the closure of the club that operated for a long time in the northern part saddened some customers, as comments poured in under the manager’s announcement, where people who liked this place did not spare kind words.

“What a loss in the northern part of the city,” wrote one commenter.

“How sad. Such a good sports club, I tried elsewhere and still came back because I missed it,” says another comment.

According to T. Kesminas, trainers and clients from the closing club are moving to “Apelsinas” located in the premises of the “Grandus” shopping center near the intersection of Taikos and Baltijos avenues.

“There we will wait for you with a big heart and open arms. From autumn, I hope to see most of you there,” T. Kesminas addressed the exercising community.

Others offered more

Later, T. Kesminas told the news portal VE.lt that the sports club was forced to leave “Studlendas” because it could not meet the conditions set by the building manager regarding investments, and competitors planning expansion in Klaipėda – “Gym Plius” – offered more.

“The lease agreement ended, a competition was announced.

We offered a better price, but the building and shopping center manager demanded an investment in the premises that seemed too high for us.

Competitors – the Estonian capital network “Gym Plius” – plan to invest 700 thousand euros in the premises, we were ready to invest 400 thousand euros.

As far as I know, this network plans to open a sports club not only in “Studlendas” after reconstruction but also in Tauralaukis, and another space near “McDonald’s” on Liepų street.

I am glad that many of our clients expressed a desire to stay with “Apelsinas,” who from autumn will go to exercise at “Grandus” “Apelsinas,” commented T. Kesminas.

The shopping center “Studlendas” is managed by the Vilnius commercial real estate development and management company “Baltisches Haus.”

For some time, rumors have been circulating in the city that another sports space – “Gym Plius” – plans to open its doors in this shopping center instead of “Apelsinas.”

The company “Gym Plius,” which manages this sports club network and is controlled by the Estonian-registered group “My Fitness AS,” confirmed to the news portal VE.lt that it plans expansion in Klaipėda but did not specify more concrete plans.

According to unofficial data, another “Gym Plius” sports club will open its doors in Tauralaukis after reconstruction – in a building where a tennis academy operated for a long time.

After loss-making years, it made a profit

The sports clubs “Apelsinas” are managed by the company “Mūsų vizija.”

According to the Register Center data, last year the company earned almost 830 thousand euros in revenue and made 150 thousand euros in net profit.

2025 was the first year after a long break when the sports club manager made a profit: the last time before last year it had made a profit was in 2014.

“Follow the news, more information will be available soon,” the company’s communications department responded to a question about expansion plans.
