Closing arguments were made on Tuesday. I. Gajauskaitė did not appear in court.
The decision in this case will be announced by the Šiauliai District Court on October 22.
The defense requested that the infliction of physical pain on her brother be recognized as minor, and that I. Gajauskaitė be acquitted of the other charges.
The prosecutor requested that I. Gajauskaitė’s appeal be dismissed and the first instance court’s verdict be upheld.
In February, the Šiauliai District Court sentenced the former parliamentary candidate I. Gajauskaitė to a final punishment of 75 days of arrest for attempting to organize riots, incitement against a group of people, and infliction of physical pain on a close relative.
Additionally, the court decided to confiscate the means used to commit the crime – a computer and a mobile phone.
As BNS reported, according to the case data, on October 8, 2024, the accused attempted to provoke riots. On her personal Facebook account, I. Gajauskaitė posted a 33-minute video openly calling for violence against participants of debates of parties and lists running in the parliamentary elections held in Vilnius, at the former Lukiškės prison.

“With her statement and its public posting on social networks, the accused I. Gajauskaitė consciously sought to provoke riots. She openly called on everyone to join, come, bring baseball bats, sticks, sickles, urged to meet,” said Renata Maziliauskienė, judge of the Šiauliai District Court Šiauliai branch, who heard the case.
A month later, on November 10, another 15-minute video was publicly released, in which I. Gajauskaitė, spreading negative and false information about Jews, crossed the limits of permissible expression and publicly insulted people of Jewish ethnicity.
The former parliamentary candidate was also convicted for assaulting her brother in December 2023. This pre-trial investigation was completed in February 2024 after the accused reconciled with her brother. In 2025, the pre-trial investigation was reopened because I. Gajauskaitė, less than one year after being released from criminal liability, was suspected of committing two new intentional crimes.
