The prosecutor of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office has drawn up an indictment and today submitted a criminal case to the court for consideration regarding the accident that occurred in July 2025 on Žirmūnai Street in Vilnius, during which one person died and another was injured.

The charge of violating the Road Traffic Rules, which caused a traffic accident resulting in a fatality (under Article 281, Part 5 of the Criminal Code), was brought against a man born in 1975, the prosecutor’s office reports.

According to the pre-trial investigation data, on July 3, 2025, on Žirmūnai Street in the capital, a man driving his car failed to take all necessary precautions, changed direction towards the right edge of the roadway at about 60.2 km/h, drove onto the sidewalk, and hit pedestrians there.









A young girl (born in 2005) died in the traffic accident, and another pedestrian (born in 2005) suffered minor health disturbances due to the injuries sustained.
The data collected during the investigation reasonably indicate that the accident was caused by the actions of the car driver and his violations of the Road Traffic Rules requirements.

The pre-trial investigation was organized and led by a prosecutor from the specialized department of the Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office, and the investigation was conducted by officers of the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat.
During the pre-trial investigation, expert examinations were conducted, specialist conclusions were obtained, and other data significant to the investigation were collected and analyzed.
After evaluating the entirety of the pre-trial investigation data, the prosecutor drew up an indictment and submitted the criminal case for consideration to the Vilnius City District Court.
