As announced in the BPC press release, during the storm that hit Lithuania on Saturday, the center received 24,427 calls – almost five times more than on a typical weekend day. This is the highest number of calls in the entire history of BPC operations. At peak times, the call flow reached as many as 14 calls per second.

“Due to difficult weather conditions across Lithuania, numerous various incidents are being recorded. BPC is operating in an enhanced mode – the call flow is currently much higher than usual. However, part of the calls consists of reports about electricity supply disruptions.

We understand that when the electricity goes out, anxiety arises and people want to get information or help as soon as possible, but 112 is not a line for registering electricity supply disruptions,” the BPC reminded residents on Saturday.
