For the 31-year-old tennis player, this will be her 16th career semifinal at the WTA 1000 level and her fourth this season, which is the most among all players.
In WTA 1000 tournaments, the Ukrainian has now won 10 times in a row – this streak began back in May at the Rome tournament and is now continuing in Toronto.
However, it is worth noting that on these courts, E. Svitolina had not reached the semifinals since 2017, when she ultimately became the champion.

J. Alexandrova sensationally defeated the world number one Aryna Sabalenka (WTA-1) in the previous round, but lost to the Ukrainian for the fourth time in five head-to-head matches and ended her run.
In the semifinals, E. Svitolina will face one of the toughest challenges – the queen of Polish tennis, Iga Swiatek (WTA-8). She crushed Russian Diana Shnaider (WTA-17) 6:2, 6:1.
