In WTA 1000 tournaments, the Ukrainian has now won 10 times in a row – this streak began back in May at the Rome tournament and is now continuing in Toronto.

However, it is worth noting that on these courts, E. Svitolina had not reached the semifinals since 2017, when she ultimately became the champion.

J. Alexandrova sensationally defeated the world number one Aryna Sabalenka (WTA-1) in the previous round, but lost to the Ukrainian for the fourth time in five head-to-head matches and ended her run.
