“At the moment they are not weakening. Data shows that strong wind gusts will continue until about 9 p.m., so work will be done not only in the evening but also late at night,” she said.
According to the ESO representative, the most affected districts are Švenčionys, Ignalina, and Zarasai.
According to R. Juodkienė, electricity supply is currently disrupted for about 4 thousand customers, but the situation is constantly changing – in some places electricity supply is already being restored, while new faults appear elsewhere.
Preparations were made in advance
According to ESO, meteorologists warned about the strong wind, and the possible impact on the network was also forecasted by the artificial intelligence solutions used by the company.
“We were prepared. Seeing that other regions were less affected, we are directing brigades to the most affected areas,” said R. Juodkienė.
According to her, additional forces have been sent to the eastern Lithuania regions since the morning.
Residents – urged to remain cautious
ESO urges residents not to approach downed wires or trees fallen on electrical networks and to report such cases to the general emergency number or ESO.
Residents are also recommended to first check the ESO electricity outage map to see if a fault at a specific address has already been registered.
