Representatives of the State Food and Veterinary Service (SFVS) informed 15min that the service received information about salmonella bacteria found in dumplings from the manufacturer “Liūtukas ir Ko” and the supermarket “Rimi Lietuva”.

“The sample was taken from the market by the responsible Latvian institution. The product was distributed in “Rimi” stores in Lithuania and Latvia,” SFVS informed 15min.
In a comment from “Liūtukas ir Ko” to 15min, it is stated that the company learned about the potential non-compliance of “Froia” dumplings after receiving official laboratory tests from the customer. Upon receiving this information, the company immediately launched an internal investigation and is cooperating with responsible institutions to determine the possible cause of contamination.
“Currently, a comprehensive assessment of the production process, raw materials, and supply chain is being carried out. Until the investigation is completed, we cannot responsibly state how Salmonella entered the product.
Immediately upon receiving the information, we took all necessary actions – we stopped the distribution of the relevant batch, initiated its recall from sales points, and are actively cooperating with trade partners and the State Food and Veterinary Service,” commented representatives of “Liūtukas ir Ko”.

Returns possible even without a receipt
“Liūtukas ir Ko” informed that a batch valid until May 11, 2027, is currently being recalled. 320 units – 128 kg of product – were supplied to the Lithuanian market.
Luka Lesauskaitė-Remeikė, Head of Public Relations at “Rimi”, informed 15min that upon receiving information about potential product non-compliance, the retail chain immediately stopped selling these dumplings and began recalling the product.
“We invite customers who have purchased a product with the expiration date specified by the SFVS not to consume it and to return it to any “Rimi” store. The money paid for the product will be refunded; a purchase receipt is not necessary,” commented L. Lesauskaitė-Remeikė.
“Proper thermal processing of the product (as recommended on the packaging) destroys Salmonella, but due to the detected microbiological non-compliance, the product is being recalled from the market as required by food safety regulations,” added representatives of “Liūtukas ir Ko”.
