From July 31 to August 2, Friday and the weekend, the BPC was the busiest this summer. For comparison, the highest number of weekend calls so far was recorded during the hottest June weekend – about 18,700 calls, and nearly 12,000 calls were received during Joninės.

The highest activity was recorded on Friday, when the BPC received 6,473 calls, and on Saturday – 6,269. On Friday, a larger number of calls were from the Klaipėda region service area. On Saturday, the load was almost evenly distributed between regions: 3,132 calls were received in the Klaipėda region and 3,137 calls in the Vilnius region.
During the weekend, 5,813 reports were forwarded to the police. Most of them were related to public order violations (1,433) and traffic safety (1,003).
4,126 reports were forwarded to the emergency medical service.
The most notable change was recorded in the number of reports forwarded to the fire and rescue services. This weekend, they received 369 reports – almost three times more than the week before, when 136 reports were forwarded.
Of these, 113 were related to fires, and as many as 229 to rescue operations. The biggest impact was caused by the storm that hit part of the country over the weekend. Most reports related to the storm’s consequences were received in Vilnius city and district (Avižieniai, Zujūnai, and Sužionys elderships) and Alytus county.

303 reports were forwarded to environmental protection officers.
Despite the increased workload, the BPC ensured the usual response quality – 97% of all calls were answered within no more than 8 seconds.
“The increased call flow means a much heavier workload for our officers. However, even under such conditions, the most important thing remains to respond as quickly as possible to every call for help and promptly forward information to the emergency services. The fact that 97% of calls were answered within no more than 8 seconds shows the professional work of the officers and the smooth operation of the entire system,” says the Head of the General Help Center, Liutauras Šinkūnas.
The BPC reminds that the number 112 is intended only for cases requiring urgent police, firefighter, emergency medical, or environmental protection assistance. Every unjustified call takes up operators’ time, which at a critical moment can be vital for another person waiting for help.
