Almost identical information was also made public the day before: an attempt was made to smuggle prohibited items into Marijampolė prison.
On June 3, 2026, three packages with prohibited items were seized at Marijampolė prison by the Lithuanian Prison Service (LKT).
A junior specialist from the Prison Security Management Department, while inspecting the internal perimeter of the institution between security posts, noticed three gray packages wrapped in gray adhesive tape on the ground.
The packages were delivered to the duty section and inspected.
During the inspection, one “Labas” SIM card and 11 mobile phones were found inside: five Samsung, one Xperia, one Marshall, one ZTE, one Honor, and two L8star phones.

The prohibited items were confiscated, and additional information is being collected and circumstances clarified regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, LKT announced that on June 2, 2026, a package with prohibited items was seized at Marijampolė prison.
The prison guard reported that while releasing a vehicle from the prison territory through the control gate, a black package was noticed between security posts. Upon checking its contents, four mobile phones were found.
Information has been gathered about the incident and the circumstances are being clarified. The Lithuanian Prison Service reminds that the entry of prohibited items into detention facilities poses a threat to the security of the institutions, therefore preventive and control measures are constantly carried out to prevent such violations.
