Oven, shower, and toilet can shine again: a natural remedy much more effective than white vinegar

Many of us know very well that white vinegar is one of the undisputed leaders in cleaning. This natural but powerful ingredient can restore a dazzling shine to glass, countertops, and other surfaces, and it doesn’t cost much. “However, during one cleaning session, I decided to replace my trusty white vinegar with something completely different – and the results were much better,” a reader tells the Daily Express portal.

<p“Last year I bought a bag of soda crystals, which I used for whitening laundry. The result was great, but since then they have been lying unused and collecting dust at the back of the cupboard. Everything changed when I came across many cleaning enthusiasts online praising soda crystals for how effectively they clean glass and limescale deposits. Mixed into a thick paste and left on damaged spots, these crystals break down stubborn dirt,” the woman says.

She immediately thought of three places in the house where this method would be perfect: the oven, the shower glass, and the toilet. After pouring some soda crystals into a bowl, adding water, and achieving the right thick consistency, the woman began her experiment.

Cleaning the oven with soda crystals

This was the part of the house that needed the most attention. “I’m ashamed to admit it, but in the four years since moving in, I had properly cleaned the oven glass only a few times, so naturally, a lot of dirt and grease had built up on it,” the reader confesses.

Using a cloth, she spread the soda crystal paste on the glass, trying to cover it with a generous, thick layer. The advantage of this technique is minimal effort: just leave the paste to work for about an hour so it can effectively break down the dirt.

Then, using a rougher cloth, rub the paste in circular motions. You will be amazed at how easily and quickly all the dirt comes off.

“I washed and repeated this several times until the paste and all the dirt completely disappeared. Finally, I sprayed the surface with cleaner and wiped off the residue. The glass looked like new, so since then I have recommended this method to many people,” the woman says.

Cleaning the toilet with soda crystals

Soda crystals not only clean glass well – they can also be used to fight limescale deposits. For this, you need to pour a few cups of soda crystals into the bowl and around it and leave it for an hour. “To make sure I cleaned everything, I scrubbed the remaining stubborn stains with an old toothbrush and flushed the water. The result – a sparkling toilet without any harsh chemicals,” the woman shares her tips.

Cleaning shower glass with soda crystals

Seeing how well the soda crystal paste handled the oven glass, the reader was eager to try it in the shower. Maintaining a clean shower cabin was a real headache for her – daily fingerprints, soap scum, and water marks made the glass look dirty.

“I used the same method: I spread the glass with a thick paste using a cloth, left it for an hour, then polished and wiped the surface with circular motions. All soap and water stains completely disappeared, leaving a wonderful shine that is usually very hard to achieve,” the reader said.
