These Žemaičių pancakes were sold in “Lidl” stores in Lithuania from January 31, 2026.
“The recall applies exclusively to a specific batch of products from the manufacturer “Liūtukas ir Ko”. Other products sold by “Lidl” from the aforementioned manufacturers are not being recalled from sale,” the statement reads.
Lina Skersytė, Head of Public Relations at “Lidl Lietuva”, told 15min that this product recall was carried out exclusively for preventive purposes, in response to international supply chain notifications.
“Based on official information from the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT), the causative agent of bovine spongiform encephalopathy was not detected in these products, and there is no threat to Lithuanian consumers.

The decision to preventively recall the product was made after a notification from Dutch authorities, which stated that hygiene requirements for slaughter and full product traceability were not ensured in one of the Dutch slaughterhouses that supplied beef raw material. Guided by the strictest principle of caution, we always strive to ensure maximum safety for our customers, therefore we immediately removed these products from sale,” L.Skersytė informed.
According to her, the product return in “Lidl” stores took place from May 19 to June 2.
“However, we want to emphasize that if consumers still have this product in their freezers, they can return it to any “Lidl” store and get their money back, even without a purchase receipt. We once again apologize for this unpleasant incident and the inconvenience caused,” said the “Lidl” representative.
