Meteorologists announce where the Solar eclipse will be best visible

In Lithuania, we will be able to observe a partial solar eclipse, during which the Moon will cover up to 4/5 of the Sun’s disk. The best conditions to observe this astronomical event will be at the seaside (due to the open horizon) where up to 81–82% of the Sun’s disk setting into the sea will be covered (at maximum it will be at the horizon), according to the meteo.lt Facebook page.

If you are not at the seaside, then look for a high hill, building, or a larger lake from where the horizon in the western part of the sky can be seen.

Those planning to observe the partial solar eclipse must prepare properly. Although the Sun will already be near the horizon, do not look at it directly. Good dark glasses with a UV filter are necessary, or even better, special glasses designed for observing solar eclipses. In a pinch (for a brief look), an old camera film strip or similar can suffice.
